CONFITARMA – Italian Shipowners’Association

Heir to traditional associations of shipowners and shipping entrepreneurs dating back to 1901, CONFITARMA, today, is the foremost Italian shipping industry association and represents almost the whole of the nation’s merchant fleet, shipping companies and groups operating in freight and passenger transport, cruises and auxiliary traffic services.

CONFITARMA objectives include the promotion of the development of the Italian merchant marine as part of a policy that leverages maritime transport, managing the representation and protection of the Italian shipping industry and shipping companies in relations with institutions and administrations, as well as with economic, political, social and trade union bodies. The functions of Confitarma include stipulating trade union and economic agreements, as well as collective labour contracts; representing and protecting its members in relationships with trade unions and in matters of general and special economic interest and providing information and assistance to members about regulatory, economic and social issues, both at the national and international level, especially in the fields of development, environment and energy, infrastructure and logistics, tourism, business culture, the labour market and training.

CONFITARMA is a member of Italian General Confederation of Industry CONFINDUSTRIA and is directly represented in the CNEL (National Council for Economy and Labour). Furthermore, it is one of the founders and major contributors to the Federation of the Italian Maritime System (Federazione del Sistema Marittimo Italiano), which represents the Italian maritime cluster, and is also a member of the European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC), and the Italian Institute of Navigation (IIN).

Internationally, CONFITARMA belongs to:
